Milton Country Park
Milton Country Park lies approximately four miles north of Cambridge. It is situated on the edge of the Cambridgeshire Fens, a low lying and flat area that is intensively farmed. The park, which is approximately 95 acres, was constructed around disused gravel pits and was opened in 1993.
Roughly one third of the park is occupied by the water filled pits, with the remaining area split about equally between woodland and meadow. There is a visitor centre, childrens' playgrounds and two small gardens on the site. A small area of the park has been set aside as a wetlands nature reserve. The park is served by two miles of footpaths.
The open water and the meadowland in the park are typical of the surrounding area. However, there is very little woodland in the neighbourhood, and in this respect the park does not reflect its environment.
For more information on the park, visit the park's official website at :.
Below is a sketch map of the park. For ease of reference, I have named the five main paths in the park. These are my names, as, as far as I know, no paths been officially named.
